You can now upgrade Ubuntu to Ubuntu 23.10 Mantic Minotaur Development Version

Hi everyone,

Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster got released this past month. Now, development for Ubuntu 23.10 Mantic Minotaur has started and you can upgrade to its development version right now.

If you like to test software and don’t mind bugs and other potential issues, I’ll show you how simple it is to upgrade to Ubuntu 23.10.

First, you’ll need to open a terminal and type do-release-upgrade -d. The -d option indicates that you want to install a development version:

You will then confirm that you want to start the upgrade by typing y, followed by Enter:

Third-party repositories will be disabled. You will be asked to press Enter to continue:

You will be presented with the amount of packages that will be removed, installed, and upgraded. Confirm these details with the y key and press Enter:

You may be presented with a message telling you that the lock screen has been disabled. Press Enter to continue. Now, the upgrade will start. This will take some time while the packages are downloaded and installed:

After the system is upgraded, you will be prompted to confirm the removal of obsolete packages. Press y to confirm or N to keep them, then press Enter:

Finally, reboot the system by pressing the y key, followed by Enter:

Congratulations! You have now been upgraded to Ubuntu 23.10, or one of its flavors, if you’re using a specific Ubuntu flavor.
