Just got my first badge for the Smash Childhood Cancer subproject of World Community Grid!
Hi everyone,
As you may know, I am committed to donating my computer spare time to distributed computing projects, especially to World Community Grid, which runs a variety of projects looking for cures for various diseases. Last week, they launched the Smash Childhood Cancer sub-project after having run a beta for a few weeks. Today, I’m proud to mention that I have got the first badge of this sub-project, which is the Bronze badge:
A Bronze badge is awarded after having run a sub-project for at least 14 days in CPU time, and as of this post, I’ve already had ran this sub-project for 20 days in CPU time.
What is CPU time? It’s very simple. Each core is able to run a single task of World Community Grid, so if you have a quad-core system or a 4 thread system and you have run exclusively the Smash Childhood Cancer sub-project, having received lots of tasks to fill each core of your PC, each core counts as a full day, so for each day, you have contributed 4 days of work for that particular sub-project.
I’m very proud of this accomplishment and I won’t stop collecting and upgrading my badges. Take a look at my other badges from this and other projects below:
