Locating Verizon Cell Towers in Inverness, Florida and surrounding areas

Hi everyone,

Some months ago, I wrote about a cell tower containing Verizon’s hardware in Inverness, Florida. Today, we will be taking a look at some other towers that I passed by but were not located in the CellMapper app.

From the above image, the only ones that remain unlocated are the Verizon eNB 145883 and 506565. These are probably very old and may have been removed.

This post covers the following Verizon eNB sites:

  • Verizon eNB 145869 and 445869
  • Verizon eNB 145877 and 445877
  • Verizon eNB 445880

Verizon commonly have 2 eNobeB (eNB) in most locations. In Florida, they seem to start with a 1, 4, or 7. The rest of the digits are the same. This makes locating each eNB easy if someone else have located an eNB starting with 1, 4, or 7.

I located these towers using the cell readings and estimated location. I also used Google Maps to determine if there was indeed a tower nearby. The only exception was for the eNB 445880 because the eNB 145880 was already located in the app.

Verizon eNB 145869 and 445869

This cell tower can be seen from North Croft Avenue, Inverness, FL. It is actually on 2717 E Truck Farm Ln.

Below, we can see the tower from Google Maps and Google Streetview:

I went ahead and moved both eNB to their proper place:

We can now see the cells matching their covered area:

Verizon eNB 145877 and 445877

This cell tower is actually located in Hernando, Florida, but is close to Inverness. This one was trickier to find because it is hidden surrounded by trees.

Again, I moved both eNB where it should be:

And now, the cells match the covered area:

Now, both Verizon towers are located:

Verizon eNB 445880

For this one, the Verizon eNB 145880 was already located, which made this one easier to locate/move. This tower is actually in Pine Ridge, Florida, also close to Inverness.

Below is the tower as seen from Google Maps and Google Streetview:

Once the eNB 445880 was moved, the cells match the covered area properly:

Conclusion

With these towers now located, the Inverness and surrounding areas look much cleaner, with only a few towers not yet located due to them probably no longer being active. This makes it hard to point were exactly they were originally.
