The last session I attended for the day was about Vue.js.
BarCamp 2019: Vue.js
This session was mostly a personal perspective as to why Mark chose Vue.js, explained in his slide:
BarCamp 2019: Vue.js 2
He then proceeded to explain in more details how is a Vue.js project structure:
BarCamp 2019: Vue.js 3
Finally, he showed us a Tic Tac Toe demo he wrote and is freely accessible at his page:
BarCamp 2019: Vue.js 4
Then, he went to explain the project’s code:
BarCamp 2019: Vue.js 5
I’ve never used Vue.js before, but I’ve heard of it. Being at his session, I could understand better how is a Vue.js project made as well as seeing the actual code and several command line tools he used to compile and deploy the project. It was very informative to me.
After the Lunch Break, I went to the Pythonic Coding session. Here, most of the presentation focused on how to write code in a pythonic way. The speaker used samples of how a C-Style syntax could be written better in Python.
See the gallery below for some of the topics covered in this session:
We had everything to make our own taco and burrito, and it was very yummy 😋. In the above picture, you can see what I ate for lunch. The break lasted ’till 1:00 PM, where the sessions continued.
The next conference I attended was a talk about what is the GDPR and why it matters.
GDPR 1
The GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation, which is an European Regulation. The talk focused on several key aspects, like how the law impacts not only for the European Union, but also worldwide.
GDPR 2
It was very informative, as was presented in a simple way to understand how it works and how to be GDPR-compliant.
GDPR 3
Also importantly, it talked about the user’s right.
GDPR 4
This session was very informative, and allowed me to understand the law better, as this site receives worldwide visitors. Luckily, I don’t directly collect user data (That’s handled by third-parties, as explained in my privacy policy), but still, it’s a good talk just in case I need to apply the GDPR in my future projects.
This session was presented by Amie Kreppel. Follow her on Twitter: @akreppel
The second session i attended was Bootstrap Your Startup. It was a very informative talk, where stuff that we must have were discussed. Questions were answered later. See below for the summary.

BarCamp 2019: The Power of User Experience Research
Today, I’m at the Gainesville BarCamp 2019, where there will be several talks about various interesting Technology topics.
The first talk is The Power of User Experience Research by Michele Brownstein.
The Power of User Experience Research 1
The talk was about researching ways to improve the user experience in several ways. The first, which was by interacting with the user, and asking questions about how the users use your product:
The Power of User Experience Research 2
Next, we focused on decision making, by understanding the user’s needed. This may be by asking the user to fill a survey:
The Power of User Experience Research 3
Unfortunately, not all users fills these forms, but for those who do, they provide a useful resource to improve the User Experience for our product.
The talk also focused on User Observation, to see how they react naturally to a product. Also, how it’s important to understand the ambient of which the app’s User Experience is targeted. For example, visiting a Starbucks store and see how people interact there, so the app can provide a similar user experience.
There are other methods you can use, some of which are the following:
The Power of User Experience Research 4
The talk was useful in that it offered several methods as well as examples of how to capture useful user experience that allows us to improve the UX. For example, using User Testing and Usability Hub:

One way to organize the data is to use a User Diary to keep track on the user activities:

Finally, A/B Tests are great to see which experience works best for your users:

With these insights, we can improve our User Experience by knowing the users.
We were invited to go to the Gainesville UX meetup to keep learning about this topic.
