Hi everyone,

Today, I’ve released v1.6 of rav1e GUI:

rav1e GUI v1.6
rav1e GUI v1.6

This new release adds Drag-and-Drop support, which means you can now drag and drop a video file into the GUI or software executable and it will be used as the input automatically. No need to browse for the input video file again! That is, of course, if you use the new drag and drop feature.

Enjoy!

rav1e encoding test – commit f032557

Hi everyone,

Today, I’m sharing yet another AV1-encoded video using rav1e. As usual, it was encoded with parameters -q 175 -s 0. This video started encoding at 7:29:10 PM yesterday and concluded at 5:01:07 AM today. Enjoy and let me know what do you think of the quality:

I’ve also updated rav1e GUI to include this rav1e build. Download at the rav1e GUI page.

rav1e encoding test – using rav1e 0.1.0 commit 3caefbd

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I started encoding one video I recorded in 2011. The encode started at 12:39:28 PM yesterday and finished at 9:50:41 AM today. Encode settings where -q 175 -s0 and the audio is encoded using opus at a bitrate of 64kb. The resulting size of this video is just 12.9MB! See it below:

The video was encoded using my tool, rav1e GUI

Unboxing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Special Edition

Hi everyone,

Today, I’ll be showing you images of the super smash Bros. Ultimate Special Edition bundle for the Nintendo Switch. The Special Edition includes a Super smash Bros.-themed Pro Controller and the game in a steel case. (Scroll down for more!)

This is the game box:

And the sides and back (sorry for the blurry images):

Opening the box, we can find the Pro Controller box:

Once taken of the Smash Bros box, here’s the Pro Controller box:

The back:

Inside the Pro Controller box, we find, of course, the Pro Controller nicely wrapped and protected:

Taking the controller out of the box, still wrapped:

Taking out the controller wrapping, we can see how beautiful it looks:

Here you can see the side where the L, R, ZL, ZR, Sync button and the USB-C connector is located:

The controller also comes with a USB-C cable. If connected to the switch, it will pair the controller to the console:

Now, let’s take a look at the Steel Case, where the game is located. It is also nicely wrapped:

Out of the wrap, here’s the front:

And the back:

Inside, we can see one of the stages in the background and the game cart:

And here’s a closer look at the game cart:

Unboxing the Google USB-C to 3.5mm Headset adapter

Unboxing the Google USB-C to 3.5mm Headset adapter

Hi everyone,

Today, I’ll be sharing with you my unboxing video of the Google USB-C to 3.5mm Headset adapter.

This is a USB-C adapter that allows you to use headphones, earbuds, IEM’s and headsets with compatible devices like Android phones supporting USB Audio devices or with a PC, in which this dongle is detected as “Headset Adapter”. It features an integrated DAC (Digital-Analog Converter) although it is unknown which DAC it uses.

The reason I got this adapter is to use my headphones with integrated mic with my PC. It has a maximum sample rate of 24-bit / 48Khz and it even let me use the headset buttons to change volume and to play/pause music with my favorite music player!

Here’s the unboxing video. I hope you all enjoy it:

Unboxing the Hidizs AP80 Digital Audio Player

Unboxing the Hidizs AP80 Digital Audio Player

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I received the Hidizs AP80 Digital Audio Player from their kickstarter campaign. After that, I received a tracking number which is of no use because of course, I already have the unit here and it shows as “Delivered”, so it came as a surprise and was shipped by Amazon since they fullfill US orders from them.

So, here’s my unboxing video that I recorded of this tiny (smaller than I expected) audio player. Enjoy!
