Side-by-Side Comparison of the Samsung 860 EVO and Samsung 870 EVO SSDs

Side-by-Side Comparison of the Samsung 860 EVO and Samsung 870 EVO SSDs

Hi everyone,

This post will be a short one, as I wanted to show the Samsung 860 EVO and Samsung 870 EVO SSDs side by side. This post is not a technical one, rather than just showing the front and back of the products and see if something, if any, has changed in the product design.

Product Front

The front of both SSDs are exactly the same. Same color, same text and same symbol.

Product Back

Similarly, the back of it is almost identical. We have some obvious differences like them having their respective product model number and the date of manufacturing. We also see that the Samsung 860 EVO indicates a power consumption of 1.2 amps as opposed to the 1.1 amp of the Samsung 870 EVO. Being that both drives presented here are different capacity, it’s hard to tell if an exact 500GB Samsung 860 EVO has this same rating or is the same as the 870.

Another difference we see is that the Samsung 870 EVO is made in Taiwan while the Samsung 860 EVO is made in China. The Samsung 870 EVO also has a mailing address in it. The Samsung 860 EVO lacks this information in its label.

The bottom part of the label has the same information on both models but is formatted differently due to the inclusion of Samsung’s mailing address on the Samsung 870 EVO.

The rest of the SSDs looks the same.
